Each year, we open our grounds to the public under the auspices of the National Garden Scheme. All the funds raised from entrance fees and refreshments are donated to The National Garden Scheme beneficiaries including amongst others - Macmillan Cancer Support; Marie Curie; Hospice UK; Carers Trust; Parkinson's UK. We also make a donation to the charity, Bees for Development which promotes beekeeping as an income stream in developing countries.
In 2025, we plan to do things differently. During April we will be open by request to groups of 6 or more individuals and later in the year, when the weather forecast looks promising, we will announce a last-minute "pop-up" NGS open garden day, but we will try to give you as much warning as possible.
Furthermore, on 5-6 July, we will host an open garden event to raise funds for the Urdd National Eisteddfod, held on Anglesey in 2026.
Our garden is not a typical flower border-based garden. The focus is on bees and pollinators, wildlife and habitats. A magical, maturing 7.5 acre wildlife garden with a beautiful large spring-fed pond with islands and stream. Honey bees are an important feature with an apiary, honey for sale, meet the beekeeper presentations and a walk through a bee-friendly woodland planted with support from the Woodland Trust. There are also grazed pastures, small formal gardens of herbaceous borders, vegetable raised beds, orchard and soft fruit. This garden is a delight for families with a fun summer house, information boards, a woodland treasure hunt and areas suitable for picnics.
Special attractions include:-
